The Galaxies

The Milky Way isn't the only galaxy. There are many more galaxies and scientists think there are over 200 billion galaxies in the Universe. The Milky Way is 100,000 light-years across. The nearest galaxy to the Milky Way is Andromeda. The Andromeda galaxy is larger than the Milky Way galaxy. Satellite galaxies orbit another galaxy. The Milky Way has two satellite galaxies that are: Small Magellanic Cloud and Large Magellanic Cloud. Some of the stars in the the Milky Way are from it's satellite galaxies. The Antannae galaxies are actually two galaxies that collided hundreds and billions of years ago. The Antannae galaxies are classified as a peculiar galaxy as both of them are shaped abnormally. They are also classified as a starburst galaxy as their star formation rate is: Rapid. The Comet galaxy is a spiral galaxy located 3.2 billion light years away from Earth. It is located in the galaxy cluster Abell 2667. The Comet galaxy is discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope* and has slightly more mass than the Milky Way. It was detected in 2nd of March, 2007. As you know, NASA is still exploring the Universe as well as the IAU. You too should explore space by stargazing and looking trough your telescope at night(If you have one and it's not a toy of course).
